Older People read better…when the print is blurry!

The results of research published in Psychology and Aging suggest that older people have different reading strategies than younger
people. Young adults (18-30 years) found it easier to read lines of text when fine visual details were present, whereas older
people found it easier to read more blurred text. This finding shows that older adults use holistic cues, such as word shape, to identify words,
which is a reflex that develops with aging and that grows out of a natural response to the changing nature of the visual input.
